Which device and web browser should I use?
The Interactive Interviews are designed to be used on a desktop/laptop computer or a smartphone. Most modern web browsers are supported, but we find the best results with Google Chrome, especially for asking voice questions. iOS and Safari may require additional permissions in order to give the application microphone access.
I keep getting the No Voice detected error
The most common reason for a No Voice Detected error is due to permissions from your web browser. Your browser should prompt you for permissions to use the microphone the first time you load the Interactive Interviews website. If you have already approved permissions, ensure that your mic volume is turned up. If you are using an external microphone (including headphones/earbuds) try to disconnect the microphone and try the internal mic built into your computer/phone.
Double-check that your browser is allowing use of the microphone:
FirefoxThis is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:
The beginning or end of my question is missing.
If parts of your question get cut off from the beginning or the end, it’s usually related to the timing of pressing the Hold to Ask a Question button and asking your question. After pressing and holding the Hold to Ask a Question button, pause a moment and then ask your question. Make sure you also wait a moment after you’ve asked your question before you release the button to ensure the end doesn’t get cutoff.
